SHANNON DRAGONS

Wellness on the Water
Lake
A SAFE, FEEL-GOOD WAY TO GET FIT AND HAVE FUN FOR BREAST CANCER SURVIVORS

The main objective is to support the recovery, health and wellbeing of breast cancer survivors
(BCS) by establishing dragon boat teams, and providing paddling, coaching and training benefitting them, their friends and supporters
.

Being a member of Shannon Dragons means that you can connect with other breast cancer
survivors while taking part in a fun, physical activity. The mix of camaraderie, fresh air, positive
endorphins and feeling of being involved in a new adventure, is an unbeatable ‘feel good’
experience.

"Shannon Dragons is a club that is welcoming to all, whether you are a breast cancer survivor, supporter or athlete. Some club members kindly shared their own personal stories as part of the recent initiative under the Living and Learning Communities.”
“Wellness on the water! This is another of the series of videos and audio recordings of members personal stories as part of an initiative of the Ballyhoura Development CLG in partnership with Clare Local Development Company and with the assistance of Grey Heron Media.”

Catherine and Eilis share their experience since joining Shannon Dragons

“I love the strength of the women and the fact that there is no distinction between those
who have had breast cancer and those who have not. In the boat as in life, we are all facing
challenges of one sort or another. There is no doubt that paddling together makes us
stronger"
